Sacred Mountain

Sierra Blanca sits on the horizon as the old river course, now abandoned by the Rio Grande, fills with water from the same river through a snaking irrigation canal. At days end, a wet spring storm rolls in to quench the terrain with yet more water. Will it be rain--or snow? Sierra Blanca is a sacred mountain to many tribes in the southwest and is the northeast marker of territory for both the Navajo and Hopi.
