| Promise of the Ages
30 x4030 x 40 I saw a remarkable visual event while motoring on the California coast near Big Sur. The morning fog was burning off and the sun was beaming through the remaining patchwork of clouds. I nearly ran off the road when I glanced at this sight and raced to find a pull-out on this narrow road. When I returned to my home in the Colorado mountains, I embellished and augmented this event because even at the time when I first saw it, it spoke to me on many levels. There are strong metaphors that can be drawn out of landscapes in general and the ocean offers allusions to many aspects of life. One of the references that I have come away with from this piece is the feeling that there are higher realms and that we can, if we are so blessed, access them.
