Quantum Monument

This painting is a result of a long evolution from the first seed of inspiration derived from a fuzzy image during a meditation. I discerned a vague symbol and painted a small thumbnail image of orange on a dark background. This was pretty much what I had seen during my meditation.

I explored this imagery further in my mind and through a drawing. As I pondered the image it became more concrete and defined in a visual consensus reality manner. As I began painting this image in oil I found that I had to alter my technique from a painterly or loose style to one of more precision to make it more “real.” I hadn’t painted this way for perhaps 20 years.

This latest image shows two megaliths in an open field surrounded by something I have called the Council of All Trees. The megaliths are actually protruding up into the picture plane from perhaps another dimension. There is also the energy vortex that is coming in from the left and circles the two giant stones.

Finally, to accentuate the scale of the massive stones, I put in a figure to give the piece a scale reference.
