12 x 16 I was blessed with the opportunity to paint on the Medano Ranch, east of the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This particular cottonwood grove can be seen for miles from the flatlands that surround it. Spring Creek pops up in the middle of sandy flats and runs steadily for miles into the San Luis Lakes complex. On its journey it nourished these trees along with acres and acres of wild iris and assorted grasses.
The ranch hands informed me that this place was known as the Wedding Grove because of the numerous ceremonies that have been performed there.
