I really like this view in the lower meadows of the western San Juan Mountains and have rendered it several times. There are obvious compositional elements that make this image easy on the eye, such as the road that leads you into the landscape with stops along the way.

Typical of the pioneering age is the claiming of the lower verdant meadows- well watered and streamside- by the original gringo settlers to the high country. Luckily this ranch is a successful historic "dude" ranch and has been able to maintain its undeveloped condition-  a treat to the tourist, fishermen---- and painters!
