This painting is based on the view from the Oxbow Bend turnout in Grand Teton National Park. The park had just received the first snow of the season and the mountains got most of the white stuff which accentuated its rugged forms. As it cleared, the breaking sunbeams offered dramatic lighting all up and down the range. The title to this piece turned into a wordplay excersize. I kept thinking about how magical the Tetons are. The first version had "Magical Lands" as an adjective-noun combination. But really, I felt at the time that Magic was really at play- so I came up with "Magic Lands", a noun-verb combo. Thus, the formal title should be " Magic Lands at the Magical Lands in the Tetons." Clever, I know. ( Aren't there fines for this sort of thing?)
